National Police strictly rejected all the events that have the potential to cause noise. One of those is the World Caliphate Meeting which was planned to be held in Bogor, West Java.

“(The event) has been rejected, so I think Bogor City Police has assessed that there is potential of disturbance, so rejection arose,” said National Police spokesman Mohammad Iqbal on Wednesday (14/11).

Iqbal said all Indonesian people are allowed to hold meetings, including in a large scale. However, National Police has the authority to assess whether the activity tends to be positive or even cause disturbance to the community.

“We will see first, if our assessment says the event has potential for security disturbances and conflicts, then we will convey and advised the committee to not stage the event,” Iqbal was quoted by republika.co.id as saying.

Earlier, Bogor City Police received a notification of event entitled ‘the Gathering of World Islamic Caliphate 1440 Hijriah’. Then, Bogor City Police checked and coordinated with the owner of event location.

“From our investigation, the event is closely related to caliphate that wants to change Indonesian government system, from Pancasila to caliphate,” Bogor City Police chief Andi Moch Dicky explained.

Therefore, police banned the event. The invitation of the Gathering of World Islamic Caliphate 1440 Hijriah event was spreaded by organizing committee of the Khilafatul Muslim Community Nur Syakirah Foundation. The event themed "Indonesia is the Starting Point for the Rise of the World of Islam" was initially scheduled to be held at the Az Zikra Mosque, Bogor, West Java, on November 17, morning. (Masdar)
